Ainda hoje é a minha favorita. Mas há dias, não sei bem como, caiu ao chão e a moldura de madeira rachou de lado e em cima. Felizmente, o vidro ficou intacto.
It is still my favorite to this day. But some days ago, I don't quite understand how, it fell to the floor and the wooden frame cracked on the side and on the top. Fortunately, the glass was intact.
O meu primeiro pensamento foi deitar a moldura de madeira ao lixo, e usar uma shadowbox mais ou menos do mesmo tamanho para salvar a composição. Mas não tinha nenhuma com moldura branca, só com moldura preta.
My first reaction was the thought of throwing away the wooden frame, and using a shadowbox roughly of the same size to save the composition. However, I did not have a white frame, only black ones.
Dado o tema shabby-chic vintage e as cores claras, a moldura branca ficava mesmo bem. O meu pai acabou por pegar na moldura e com cuidado colou as partes soltas e rachadas com Araldite. Mas faltava uma lasquinha no cimo.
Given the vintage, shabby-chic theme and the pastel colors, the white frame was just perfect. My father ended up carefully gluing the loose and cracked parts with Araldite. But a small part was missing on the top.
A moldura ficou manchada nas zonas coladas. Vi ali uma oportunidade de fazer algo que queria fazer há bastante tempo: embelezar uma moldura!
The frame was stained where it was glued. I saw there an opportunity to do something I've wanting to do for a long time: embellish a frame!
Comprei recentemente umas pastas acrílicas de texturas e efeitos. Uma delas tem uma granularidade fina com areia. Pode ser tingida com tinta acrílica para dar cor, mas eu usei-a assim branca mesmo.
I recently bought some acrylic pastes for texture and effects. One of them has a fine granularity like sand. It can be tinted with acrylic paints, but I used it white as it is.
Passei a pasta ao longo da moldura com especial ênfase nas zonas manchadas. A textura dá a sensação visual de neve e logo pensei em adicionar purpurina iridiscente à pasta.
I brushed the paste on the frame with special emphasis on the stained regions. The texture gives the visual sensation of snow and so I immediately thought of adding iridescent glitter to the paste.
Usei cola vinílica para colar as rendas, pedras, dois coraçõezinhos de crochés e conchas à moldura, sobretudo nas áreas mais afectadas. Passei pasta com purpurina também nas decorações.
I used vinyl glue to adhere the lace, pearls, two crochet hearts and seashells to the frame, especially on the most affected areas. I also brushed some paste with glitter on the embellishments.
Nos lados e no topo, colei bocados de uma faixa fina de renda que lembra as redes do mar. O canto da foto de cima foi o mais afectado pela queda. A decoração cobriu o arranjo perfeitamente.
On the sides and on the top, I glued bits of a lace strip that reminds the fisherman's nets. The corner of the photo above was the most affected from the fall. The embellishments covered the repair perfectly.
No canto superior de cima, havia uma lasquinha que faltava. Usei uma concha maiorzinha para tapar a falta e acabei por juntar duas conchas mais pequenas. Curiosamente, trouxe essas três conchinhas da praia há dias.
On the top corner, a bit of wood was missing. So I used a slightly larger seashell to cover the fault and I ended up adding to smaller seashells. Curiously, I brought those three seashells from the beach just days ago.
E voltei a pendurar a moldura com cuidado para não cair.
And once again, I hanged the shadowbox with care so it doesn't fall again.
Desta vez, com a moldura toda decorada! A purpurina iridiscente embeleza imenso o efeito da pasta. Pena que não dá para perceber pelas fotos.
This time, with the embellished frame! The iridiscent glitter greatly embellishes the paste effect. Pity it doesn't show on the photos.
