Quadro para canto de costura

Montei um quadro para um cantinho de costura.

I assembled a wall frame for my sewing nook.

Andei a experimentar umas canetas que comprei no LIDL, aquelas a imitar os marcadores Copic. Desenhei e pintei dois vestidos com as canetas:

I add been experimenting with some markers I bought at LIDL, those imitating Copic markers.

I drew and painted two dresses with the pens:

Tinha uma quadro A4 vazio e como gostei tantos dos desenhos, fiquei a pensar que ficaria giro no cantinho de costura.

I had a A4-sized empty frame and as I really liked the drawings, I thought that it would be cute for the sewing nook.

Assim dispus os vestidos lado a lado e adicionei uma renda para esconder as bordas do papel no centro.
Adicionei uma etiquetas de tecidos fofinhas que comprei. Adicionei ainda uma rendinha e uma fita bordada e uma borboletinha de croché.

So I displayed the dresses side by side and added a lace to hide the paper edges in the center. I added some cute fabric tags I had bought. I also added some lace, some embroidered ribbon and a crocheted teeny butterfly.

Gostei muito de como saiu :)

Empadão de legumes

No mês de Agosto tivemos três piqueniques e o marido sugeriu empadão no primeiro e depois quis repetir nos outros dois.

During the month of August, we had three picnics and Hubby suggested a veggie pie for the first, and then wanted to repeat for the other two.

Basicamente o empadão que fiz tem duas camadas: uma camada de puré de batata e couve-flor, e a camada de baixo que é um refogado de legumes (o que tivermos em casa).

Basically, the pie I make has two layers: a layer which is potato and cauliflower puree, and the lower layer which is a veggie braise (of what we have around the house).

Para o puré:

5 batatas grandes

1 couve-flor grande

água que cubra os legumes

sal para temperar

azeite (depois para o puré)

For the puree:

5 large potatoes

1 large cauliflower

water to cover the veggies

salt to season

olive oil (for the puree preparation)

Descasquei as batatas e cortei às rodelas para cozer.

Separei os floretes da couve-flor e adicionei às batatas. Guardei as folhas da couve-flor para o refogado.

Depois deixei cozer em água e sal.

Depois das batatas e couve-flor cozidas, passei-as com uma escumadeira para uma taça grande. 

Adicionei um fio generoso de azeite e fui esmagando as batatas e couve-flor com um esmagador de batata. Fui adicionando azeite à medida que ia esmagando.

Fica um puré aveludado e saboroso.

I peeled the potatoes and cut them into slices to boil.

I separated the florets of the cauliflower and added them to the potatoes. I kept the cauliflower leaves for the veggie braise. I let the potatoes and cauliflower cook in slated water.

Then when they were cooked, I moved them into a large bowl with a skimmer.

I added a generous amount of olive oil and smashed the potato and cauliflower with a potato smasher. I added olive oil as I smashed.

It results in a velvety and savory puree.

Para o refogado (aqui na foto):

5 dentes de alho

1 cebolinha

4 alhos francês

3 cenouras

2 beringelas

folhas de couve-flor

sal q.b.

fio generoso de azeite

For the braise (here in the foto):

5 garlic cloves

1 spring onion

4 leeks

3 carrots

2 eggplants

cauliflowers leaves

salt to season

generous dollup of olive oil

Lavei e cortei os legumes todos em bocados pequenos. 

Levei o alho, algum do alho francês e a cenoura a refogar no fio de azeite.

Temperei com sal e juntei um pouco de água.

Juntei o resto do alho francês, as folhas de couve-flor e a beringela e deixei cozer até os legumes estarem tenros.

Depois coloquei o refogado uma taça pyrex de ir ao forno.

I washed and cut the veggies into small pieces.

I put the garlic, some of the leeks and carrot to brown in the olive oil.

I added some salt and a bit of water.

I then added the rest of the leeks, the cauliflower leaves and the eggplant and let eveything simmer until tender.

Then I transferred the veggies to a pyrex tray that can go in the oven.

Fui adicionando com uma colher a camada de puré por cima. 

Ia adicionando e alisando com a colher.

Como era para um piquenique, fiz na noite anterior e levei ao frigorífico.

No dia seguinte, coloquei no forno para aquecer e dourar por cima.

I added the puree over the veggies with a spoon.

I added and smooth out the puree with the spoon.

Since it was a picnic, I made the pie on the night before and it went to the fridge.

The next day, I popped it into the oven to warm up and to get that golden top.

Este empadão foi do último piquenique. O refogado varia com o que temos em casa e, portanto, nunca fica mesmo igual :)

This pie was from our last picnic. The braised veggies varies according to what vegetables we have at home at the time and, so, it is never really the same :)

Cartões com lacre de cera

Nestes meses têm havido muitos aniversários e gosto sempre de ter cartões à mão.

These months have had a lot of birthdays and I like to keep my handmade cards always in stock.

Assim fiz mais dois cartões, mas desta vez andei a brincar com lacre de cera.

So I made a couple more cards, but this time I have been playing with wax seals.

Neste cartão usei uma etiqueta que criei quando andei a experimentar as aguarelas metálicas:

Adicionei um etiqueta dourada na diagonal.

Depois com uma tira de papel decorativo e uma borboleta 3D criada faz tempo, colei os vários elementos no cartão. A etiqueta foi colocada no cartão com lacre de cera.

Then with a strip of scrap paper and a 3D butterfly I created ages ago, I glued the different elements onto the card. The tag was secured onto the card with wax seal.

No interior duas tiras de papel e uma folha em croché foram seguras também com lacre de cera.

On the inside, two strips of scrap paper and a crocheted leaf motif were also secured with wax seal.

Adicionei uma renda e mais uns enfeites. A etiqueta foi colocada em cima da renda com lacre de cera.

I added a crocheted wreath and some embellishments. The tag was secured onto the wreath with wax seal.

No interior decorei com uma borboleta de madeira colada e lacre de cera na outra ponta do papelinho.

On the inside, I embellished with a wooden buuterfly and wax seal on the other edge.

Como foi divertido :)
