No outro dia, fizemos bolinhas de maçapão caseiras. O marido é que costumava fazer estes chocolatinhos deliciosos:
The other day, we made homemade marzipan bites. Hubby is the one who used to make these delicious little chocolates:

Mas já não fazia há algum tempo e desta vez decidimos fazer diferente. Tinhamos um pacote de amêndoa já moída e sem pele. No caso de usarmos amêndoas inteiras e com pele, costumamos demolhá-las umas 2 a 4 horas para a pele sair fácil e depois é preciso secá-las, Quando estiverem secas, são moídas numa moinho de café. Desta vez não foi preciso.
It's been some time since he has made them, but this time we wanted to try differently. We had a package of ground almond without the peel. In the case where we used whole almonds with the peel, we usually soak them for 2 to 4 hours so that we can take the peel off easily, and then we need to dry them. When they are dry, they are ground up in a coffee grinder. This time we didn't have to do all that.
Numa malga deitei parte da amêndoa moída e juntei seiva de ácer, sempre debaixo da supervisão do chuchu... do maridão :D A seiva de ácer é para permitir moldar a farinha de amêndoa em bolinhas. Juntava mais farinha e mais seiva de ácer e ia envolvendo com uma espátula... é um bom execício de braços :P
In a bowl, I poured some of the ground almond and added maple syrup, always under the hubby's supervision :D The maple syrup is what allows is to mold the almond flour into little balls. I added more flour and more maple syrup as needed, mixing the two together with a spatula... a good exercise for the arms :P
Quando tinha cerca de metade do pacote da amêndoa na malga, já não cabia muito mais. Juntei seiva de ácer suficiente para moldar bolinhas de maçapão. Fui fazendo as bolinhas e dispondo-as num tabuleiro forrado com papel vegetal.
When I had about half the packet of almond in the bowl, not much more could go in. So I added enough maple syrup to make the marzipan balls. As I hand-rolled the balls I displayed them on a tray lined with parchment paper.
Depois repeti o processo para o resto do pacote.
Then I repeated for the rest of the package.
Derreti em banho maria, alguns cubos de chocolate de 99%. Quando estava bem derretido com uma colher fui vertendo o chocolate sobre as bolinhas de maçapão! Polvilhei por cima do chocolate ainda derretido, farinha de coco.
I melted in a double boiler, some cubes of 99% chocolate. When it was well melted, I drizzled it over the marzipan bites with a spoon! Then I sprinkled some coconut flour over the melted chocolate.
Foi ao frigorífico para consolidar, mas ainda antes do tempo andaram lá uns ratitos de duas pernas a comê-los! Já só consegui fotografar estes sobreviventes que não sobreviveram muito mais tempo :D
As bolinhas de maçapão estavam literalmente a evaporar!
They went into the fridge to firm up, but some two-legged little mice were popping them into their mouths before time! I was just in time to photograph these survivors that didn't survive themselves much longer :D The marzipan bites were literally evaporating!
Uma receita não tão vistosa nem tão bonita como os chocolates do maridão, mas não tão trabalhosa e igualmente deliciosa! E sem me aperceber saiu poesia :D
Not a fancy nor pretty recipe as hubby's chocolates, but much less fussy to make and just as delicious! And without realizing it, poetry came out :D
